Ministry with Older People
Our older people greatly enrich our church family and there is lots happening here for them.
Friday Club is a welcoming place for all older people, every Friday in term time, from 10am to 12noon in the Fulwood Church building. It’s a time to chat, make friends, have refreshments, play games, do crafts and jigsaws. We also enjoy short special features and each week there is a ‘Thought for the Day’ from the Bible. Every month or so, after the morning session, we enjoy a cooked lunch together in the church centre hall. There is a charge of £1 per session and the meals cost £4 or £5.
For the Autumn term we will meet each week from 8th September to 1st December.
Small groups are for everyone in the church family in order to get to know a few people much better and have times for Bible study and prayer. Older people can join any of them, but we do have a few day time options for those who would prefer to join one of them. Of those daytime groups some are for women only. Please get in touch if you would like to join a group.
Friendly Spaces (Warm Spaces)
On Monday mornings a group meet to spend time with others. We play games, do craft, have a drink and generally enjoy each other’s company. 9.30-12noon in the Church Centre.
Oasis Bereavement Cafe
For anyone walking with grief and loss, please join us on the first Thursday of the month at 10.30am in the church centre. We have drinks, chat, share stories and support one another.
Dementia Friendly Services
At Christmas and Easter we put on special relaxed services aimed at those with dementia or other forms of memory loss. These have proved to be lovely times and mean a lot to these older people and their carers. Look out for details around that time of year.
